Calling all Disabled Parents!! Disabled Parents Network is a nationwide membership organisation of and for disabled parents which actively campaigns for improvements in services for disabled parents. As part of a project funded by the Parenting Fund, Disabled Parents Network will be running a series of four consultation events for disabled parents across the UK. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other disabled parents, to hear about the work of the Disabled Parents Network, and to influence the organisation’s future development. The consultation events will be free to attend and help with the costs of travel, accommodation and personal assistance may be provided. Child care will also be available. Disabled Parents Network is especially keen to hear from disabled parents who are currently underrepresented in the organisation: parents with learning difficulties, sensory impairments or mental health issues, and parents from ethnic minority communities.
“The Consultation Events are not just about Disabled Parents Network conveying information about the services we provide to disabled parents, but about listening to what disabled parents want from us.
Working to improve individual disabled parents’ self-confidence will ensure they feel better able to support others and become involved locally. Collectively, these disabled parents will make change happen for all disabled parents.”
